On the evening of 23 February 2016, the four members of the RTHKQuartet, together with two renowned local soloists, violistAndrew Ling, and sheng player Loo Sze-wang celebrated anunforgettable evening with 150 music lovers in Studio One.
Andrew Ling performed Brahms’ Quintet in B minor, Op.115
(originally written for clarinet and strings) with the Quartet.
Sheng player Loo Sze-wang gave the Hong Kong premiere
of Chan Hing-yan’s Two Pieces of Cantonese Music with the
Quartet, and performed a beautiful Chinese tune on his own.
The Quartet opened the concert with traditional Chinese New
Year music and gave the world premiere of Loo Sze-wang’s
arrangement of Mao Yuan and Liu Tieshan’s Dance of the
Yao People with the arranger on the sheng.
